Pinocchio's paradox. My puppet Brooklyn Birch asks: If Pinocchio says "My nose grows now" Is he lying or not? If he's lying, he's making a false statement. Does that mean his nose will grow? If so, he's telling the truth? Whoa! His nose is not growing now so that means he's lying? If that's so, does his nose grow during the telling of the falsehood? Can I tell if his statement is true or false? Maybe, if I stare at his nose for a long...long time I will be able to figure it out.
